THANKS AND HAPPY TRAILS, JULIE

The members and board of Divide Horsemen’s Association want to take this opportunity to send a huge THANK YOU to our President, Julie Bourriague as she takes off for the next part of her life !  Julie , along with Marlane Gregoire and Jeanne Telaak (both current DHA members) were the founders of DHA and through their early efforts and successes,  our club grew from a few folks in 2003  to its current 189 members !!  DHA  is  a vital, fun and active part of Divide ‘horse’ life –it  is  a place where  local horse people know they can come  for friendship, terrific events and great activities.   Without Julie’s drive and hard work, we would not have this vital  organization.

In October of 2004, in coordination with the American River Conservancy and the BLM, DHA, under Julie’s leadership,  was a partner in the opening of Cronan Ranch – one of our local trail systems.   That acquisition took many hours of hard work and dedication.   So many of us ride there and are not aware of its beginnings.   Next time you are out there riding, take a look at the dedication plaque on the boulder at the trail head !

Julie was also instrumental in helping DHA become Community Partners with the Georgetown Divide Recreation District.   In this small community, working partnerships are so important.   DHA now has an important role in GDRD meetings that affect our trails and our rural life.

We wish Julie all the best in her new adventures , wherever they may take her.

2010 CRAB FEED

The Crab Feed this year was a great success!   Even though, a few weeks before hand, we were wondering if it would have to be canceled because so few tickets had been sold.  But thanks to all the DHA members and many guests that attended, we cleared over $3,500.00.

A big thank you goes to our chef Todd Bolger, for the incredible meal he prepared for us. Like last year, his clam chowder was outstanding. I think he was the main reason we did so well. Todd is getting to be known as the  "clam chowder" man and when people found out he would be cooking, the tickets really started selling.

Thank you to  Pete Occhialini  our Master of Ceremonies (I wonder if he talks in his sleep?).

Thank you to everyone who helped - JoAnne Thornton, Kathy Trauman, Claudia Gibbens, Claudia's daughter Stephanie, Pam Greer, Ken Keiffer  & Paula Anderson, Terrie Hohn and her daughter & son, Todd's family, Paul & Margarita Dahms, John & Carol Saunders, Doug Avery,  all the kids  that served the food,  and all of you who brought those wonderful desserts.  If I've forgotten to mention someone, please accept my apology.

In addition, we thank the business owners. Without their support, we wouldn't have had all the wonderful items for the silent auction and raffle.  Please remember to thank them by supporting their businesses here on the Divide.
